37 Weeks

We are 37 weeks along! I asked the Dr. how big he thinks the baby is and he said, "My official estimate: 7 lbs 4 oz." He said I am 65% effaced and dilated between a finger tip and 1. Things are happening! I am feeling great. I have no complaints so far! I went swimming on Saturday in my bikini with a tank top over top. I was definitely the most pregnant woman there, and couldn't lift myself out of pool without smashing my stomach, but it was super fun and the baby was moving the whole time. I can't wait to take her swimming next summer. I hope she loves it!

We still don't have a name picked out, but don't worry, she won't be Baby Girl Atkisson for long. :) We are getting excited. I have started washing her clothes and folding and refolding her things. This will probably happen a lot before she comes. I am ok with it. I briefly considered making a list of cute outfits I can put her in, but thought that was a little much. It might still happen. We love her!!!

Special Olympics

Last week Seth, Saren, and I went to the Utah Special Olympics Opening Ceremonies and cheered our little hearts out. We love those guys.

School

Door decorating contest. Our favorite book was Too Many Toys by David Shannon. Ironic since my own students have too many toys....


This is the reward of reading and checking every assignment, sometimes you stumble on treasures like this. "Were from the you night of states." Yes, yes we are.

I love teaching.

35 Weeks!

Can you tell my shirt doesn't really quite fit anymore? Ah well, I am not buying new clothes just to wear for a month. Can't wait to meet this little one!!

Mystery Music

Have you ever heard a song on the radio, or in a movie, or a show and had a burning compulsion to hear it again but you don't know the artist, title, or many lyrics? The search may last hours, days, or even months but once that sound is found, happiness is found.

Yes, this happens to me frequently. It took me months to find Flashing Lights by Kanye West a couple years ago. Months. But well worth it once I found it. Turns out the lyrics were "flashing lights lights lights" not "fashion bites bites bites." I could have sped up the process if I could understand their sensual drawling voices better. It's a skill I am working on.

Anyway, just a thought on this freezing cold, snowy, day in almost May as I found another song I was searching for today.

Pop Star

It doesn't matter if I am getting fat or the kids like me better with my glasses....when I put on my sunglasses I become a "pop star."

"Mrs. Atkisson looks cool..."

That's right, sunglasses = pop star.
